The 2025 Topps X Takashi Murakami MLB Tokyo Series Baseball box set arrives as a Complex exclusive in honor of the MLB World Tour matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers in Japan. The March 18 and 19 games at the Tokyo Dome mark the official start of the 2025 MLB season.
Boxes were sold from the Complex website and at pop-up locations in Los Angeles and Tokyo. The listed price was $100 per box, but that was changed to $120 per box shortly before the sales started. Within a few minutes, the product was shown as "sold out." Shipping is expected in 3-4 weeks.
This isn't Topps' only collaboration with Murakami, as his work is also found in 2025 Topps MLB Tokyo Series 1 Baseball Mega boxes.
2025 Topps X Takashi Murakami MLB Tokyo Series Baseball Set Details
2025 Topps X Takashi Murakami MLB Tokyo Series Baseball offers a box set format that includes all 25 base cards. Printed on "premium glossy card stock," these feature a colorful border with many of Murakami's smiling flowers spread around the player image.
Shohei Ohtani has both a batting and pitching card, while the rest of the lineup showcases different players from the Cubs and Dodgers. In total, there are 12 cards for the Cubs and 13 cards for the Dodgers.
Although there are no traditional inserts, one chase aspect is the serial-numbered parallel found in each box. These are numbered to 199 or less.

In addition, the Base Autographs line highlights 10 names from the set, including Shohei Ohtani. No odds were provided for the signed cards.
Topps also revealed that there is a one-of-one Dual Autograph Art Print featuring on-card autographs of Ohtani and Murakami. The 2025 Topps MLB Tokyo Series 1 Baseball set has one, as well.
